Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientist II to join the BioSpecimen Acquisition and Management team in Pleasanton, California. This vital role supports Culture Collection and Panel Production activities, ensuring high-quality biological materials for clinical research and diagnostic development. What you will do:
  • Execute scientific project activities involving human cell lines, microorganisms, and other biological materials with minimal supervision.
  • Perform cloning, restriction digestion, ligation, bacterial transformation, and other recombinant DNA techniques.
  • Conduct routine and specialized cell culture procedures using adherent and suspension immortalized cell lines.
  • Analyze plasmid DNA and RNA transcripts for purity, concentration, and quality.
  • Provide practical biological solutions to internal stakeholders, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Summarize experimental results, prepare reports, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and adhere to internal safety and external regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in routine laboratory maintenance, safety protocols, ISO, and QSR activities.

Job Requirements


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques, bacterial, and mammalian cell culture.
  • Hands-on experience with cloning, plasmid preparation, restriction enzyme digestion, and bacterial transformation.
  • Skilled in nucleic acid extraction, quantification, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Ability to work under BSL-2 laboratory conditions involving infectious or engineered biological materials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent record-keeping and data integrity practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and familiarity with laboratory informatics tools (LIMS, eLN, JMP) is preferred.
  • Client-facing experience is a plus.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with laboratory automation and high-throughput sample processing.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as OSHA, ISO, and QSR.
  • Prior exposure to biorepository and sample management.
  • Experience with scientific presentation and report writing.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of related laboratory work, especially in molecular and cell biology contexts.
  • Demonstrated stability in previous roles; frequent job changes should be explained.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work at the Pleasanton site consistently; onsite presence is mandatory.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment under BSL-2 conditions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to participate in routine safety and compliance activities.
