Our client is a leading biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions.  They are among the world's leading biotechnology companies, with multiple products on the market and a promising development pipeline.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled junior scientist with expertise in flow cytometry techniques and methodologies. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years hands-on experience in assay optimization, validation, and possess an understanding of Contract Research Organization (CRO) management.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing flow cytometry-related projects, from assay design, assay outsourcing, to data QC and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Flow Cytometry Assay Optimization and Validation: 
    • Design, optimize, and validate flow cytometry assays for various research projects.
    • Implement best practices and protocols for sample preparation, staining, and data acquisition to ensure accurate and reproducible results.
  • CRO Management: 
    • Collaborate with external Contract Research Organizations for outsourcing flow cytometry assays and projects.
    • Establish strong partnerships with CROs and ensure smooth communication and project execution.
  • Flow Cytometry Data QC and Analysis:
    • Perform quality control (QC) on flow cytometry data to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
    • Analyze flow cytometry data using appropriate software and statistical tools to extract meaningful insights.
  • Research Support and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide flow cytometry expertise and support for ongoing research projects.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in flow cytometry techniques and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, protocols, and reports.
    • Present findings and results in team meetings and contribute to scientific publications and conferences as appropriate.
  • Instrument Maintenance:
    • Perform daily QC, scheduled (basic) maintenance and solve basic problems
    • Offer guidance on basic to expert level troubleshooting and resolve performance issues

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in flow cytometry techniques, including assay optimization, validation, and high spectral panels is a plus.
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry data analysis using software such as FCS Express, OMIQ or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of CRO management and outsourcing of assays is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for scientific research and a drive to contribute to advancements in the field.
