Job Description


Our client is an early-stage biotechnology company developing a novel technology platform that can provide safe and persistent control of targeted gene regulation.

Duties:
  • Design, develop and conduct experiments, analyze, interpret, and report data on in vitro studies in support of the company’s retinal disease programs.
  • Design and apply cell-based assays to support the target discovery, validation, and characterization of novel epigenetic based therapy.
  • Design and perform in vitro and ex-vivo experiments for cellular disease modeling.
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of experiments and stay current on literature and technological advances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on array/high throughput screening and drug development projects.
  • Contribute to IND and IP filing.

 

Job Requirements


Required Skills:
  • Ideal candidates will have a deep knowledge of and experience in the genetics of eye diseases.
  • Prior experience in developing in vitro and in vivo model systems for eye diseases.
  • Familiar with various gene therapy delivery systems.
  • Experience in iPSC derived 2D and 3D organoid disease model system.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, effective verbal/written communication skills, and critical problem-solving/analytical skills.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team.


Preferred Skills:
  • Familiar with CRISPR mediated epigenetic regulation.
  • Experience with lab automation for high throughput cell-based screening assay.
  • Experience with coding (R, Python).


Education:
  • Ph.D. in cellular and/or molecular biology, ophthalmology, neuroscience, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of industry laboratory experience.
