Job Description


Our client is an early-stage biotechnology company developing a novel technology platform that can provide safe and persistent control of targeted gene regulation.

 

Duties:
  • Engineer target proteins for desirable therapeutic properties, including improved function, altered target specificity and reduced immunogenicity.
  • Design and build libraries of CRISPR proteins using protein engineering methodologies.
  • Develop screening assays (in vitro and in vivo) and selection methods to characterize engineered protein variants.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams of varying expertise (including Bioinformatics, Therapeutics, and Functional Genomics) and external academic groups to bring therapeutic proteins to market.

Job Requirements


Skills:
  • Deep understanding of protein biochemistry, mechanism, or structure that can be applied to functional improvement.
  • Experience in in vitro or in vivo assay development or development of selection systems.
  • Initiative to propose creative, new approaches to improve the performance of therapeutic proteins.
  • Strong molecular biology skills (molecular cloning, DNA and RNA handling, etc.).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Established expertise in protein engineering or directed evolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of CRISPR systems and mechanisms.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.

 

Education:
  • PhD in Chemical Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or a related field, with 0+ years of post-graduate experience.
