Job Overview:

The Advanced Cell Engineering (ACE) Hub in our client's Molecular Biology department is seeking a talented and enthusiastic candidate for a full-time lab-based contractor position. The Molecular Biology Department here focuses on technology innovation to lay groundwork for therapeutic programs centered around cells, genes, and nucleic acids. The ACE Hub in the Molecular Biology Department is an interdisciplinary team with a mission to accelerate drug discovery through the development, application, and enablement of genome engineering and synthetic biology technologies.

The successful candidate will support the needs of the ACE Hub, particularly in the engineering and profiling of cell lines for disease modeling. They will be expected to work independently and make technical contributions within a dynamic, fast-paced and highly collaborative research environment. This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate engineered cell lines using methods including stable integration (both lentivirus and piggybac) and CRISPR gene editing
  • Transfection/ gene editing optimization in cell lines
  • Troubleshoot protocols
  • Instrument maintenance
  • Maintain and quality check cell lines in culture
  • Maintain lab safety compliance

Job Requirements

Who You Are (Requirements):
  • A self-motivated candidate with a (BS/ MS) + 3 years industry experience, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline.
  • Qualified candidates must have demonstrable strong mammalian cell culture techniques and ability to generate high-quality data.
  • Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be required to analyze and present data at team meetings.
  • The candidate should be team-oriented, highly organized both operationally and in silico, with the ability to multi-task across a diverse array of projects, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Ready to start ASAP.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior expertise in some or all of the following: DNA/RNA/Protein extraction and quantification, molecular cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR assay design and screening, FACS, transfection, CRISPR genome editing, siRNA/shRNA, SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, cell-based assays, NGS, and viral vector development/use.
  • Experience with sequence/data analysis platforms such as Benchling, Snapgene, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism etc. are desirable.
