Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Recording scientific observations during gross examinations
  • Excising tissue samples including microdissection
  • Collecting fluids for analysis
  • Administration of compounds required for designated procedures
  • Performing perfusion techniques
  • Freezing tissues
  • Gross photography
  • Quality control of work and entering data in the department database
  • Ordering / stocking supplies and performing general maintenance duties in the necropsy laboratories
  • Performing daily safety inspections of the laboratories

Job Requirements

Essential Job Duties:

  • Animal handling and necropsy experience; proficient in comprehensive necropsy on rodents
  • Manual dexterity for dissection techniques
  • Visual acuity to see small details during specimen examinations
  • Adherence to established policies, procedures and safety requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, management and clients


Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in animal sciences or similar field required
  • 1-2 years recent experience performing the procedures described above is preferred
  • AALAS certification is desired
  • Proven technical ability, strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication (both oral and written), dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to multitask to successfully to complete several tasks at a time in a dynamic, fast-paced workplace are required
