Job Description


Our client is an early-stage biotechnology company developing a novel technology platform that can provide safe and persistent control of targeted gene regulation.
 
Summary:
  • The Research Associate I/II Liver Biology, is responsible for providing technical and scientific support for conducting in vivo preclinical studies with a focus on gene therapy.
  • You will contribute to assay development in cell lines and tissues and will provide hands-on contribution with in vivo study execution.
  • Responsibilities will include support with study/experiment planning, generating study/experiment timelines and goals, sample collection and processing, data generation, troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation, and detailed documentation in electronic notebooks.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to expand their in vitro and in vivo skills in a dynamic workplace.


What you will accomplish:
  • Weekly mouse handling/weighing/dosing/tissue collection in the vivarium.
  • Planning and executing efficacy or functional assays in primary/immortalized cell lines, and mouse/human tissues.
  • Tissue/cell processing for protein lysates, DNA/RNA extraction and cDNA prep for quantitative PCR, ELISA, etc.
  • Data analysis in MS Excel and GraphPad Prizm.
  • Preparing data summaries for presentation.
  • Documentation of data in electronic lab notebook (ELN).

Job Requirements


Qualifications:
  • Minimum BS degree in Biology-related discipline with > 2 years’ experience in academia or pharma/biotech industry or MS degree in Biology-related discipline with > 1 year experience in academia or pharma/biotech industry.

 

Technical Requirements and Skills:
Proficient knowledge and experience in any of the following:
  • Experience in mouse handling, weighing, dosing, bleeding, and tissue harvest.
  • Basic cell culture skills.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, ELISA, Western blots, etc.
  • Conversant in the use of MS-Office and GraphPad Prizm.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills and can-do attitude.
  • Strong ability to work as a team player.
  • Familiarity with gene-editing techniques.
  • Molecular cloning.
  • Histochemistry and imaging techniques.
  • Automation/liquid handler experience.
