Job Description


Our client is seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to head the Contracts and Alliances Group, which provides business, contractual, and intellectual property support for the company’s external collaborations and internal research activities.

This individual will work closely with the company’s scientists and external academic and industry collaborators to lead and negotiate a wide variety of agreements supporting the company’s research and development programs, with support from the company’s legal and intellectual property counsel as needed.

Agreements include, but are not limited to:

  • Sponsored Research Agreements

  • Licensing Agreements

  • Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs)

  • Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)

  • Master Services Agreements (MSAs)

  • Consulting Agreements

  • Software Agreements

  • Related amendments and collaboration agreements

In addition, this role will support a number of active research collaborations and ensure effective management of contractual relationships.

Within the Business Development group, this individual will collaborate closely with senior leadership, alliance management, finance, and project teams to support the company’s broader corporate objectives.

This role reports directly to the Chief Business Officer.?

Job Requirements

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Ph.D. or J.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry or academic/institutional experience in contracts negotiation/management or business development roles involving collaboration with external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating a wide range of agreements within a research-focused healthcare, biotech, or life sciences organization.
  • Experience advising on and managing intellectual property matters in collaboration with IP counsel.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external scientific collaborators.
  • Prior experience leading or managing a team of contracts professionals is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work onsite at least four days per week.
