Duties:
  • The Biomarker Data Analyst (BDA) plays a crucial role in the processing and visualization of raw Biomarker data generated both internally and externally to support exploratory endpoints in clinical trials. The BDA works in a highly-matrixed environment with several primary stakeholders including Development Science Informatics, IT, Vendor Data Managers (DM), Data Acquisition Specialists (DAS), Biomarker Operation Managers (BOM) and Biomarker SubTeam Leaders (BMSTL). The BDA plays a key role in developing and enabling an end-to-end process for the intake, planning, delivery, user acceptance testing, and performance of data pipelines.
  • The BDA provides crucial analytical support for the transfer, visualization and storage of exploratory biomarker data, merging information from several different internal and external sources. The BDA understands key biological questions from the Biomarker team to guide data processing and visualization. The BDA collaborates with members of the study team to specify data collection requirements with external vendors, translates these requirements for secure data transfers and custom data visualizations for scientists and biomarker teams to monitor biomarker data generation.
  • The BDA provides regular updates to key stakeholders and flags anomalies or discrepancies in sample and data acquisitions. The BDA provides an essential link between vendor DMs and BOMs, ensuring quality and timely data delivery for various clinical trials.

 

Skills:
  • A degree in relevant disciplines including Computer Science, Information Management, Business information systems, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics
  • A basic understanding of biology, clinical trials or drug development in general
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to gather, view and analyze all forms of information in details
  • Numeracy Skills: Abilities to interpret and organize mathematical information, detect data trends, able to work with data extraction, sorting and merging across different data sources. Ability to work with business Intelligence tools to build dynamic/scalable dashboards. Proficient at writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries against complex databases for the purpose of data extraction
  • Technical and Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills with a basic knowledge of statistics and computer software and tools including scripting language (Matlab, Python), Querying Language (SQL, Hive, Pig), Spreadsheet (Excel) and/or Statistical Language (SAS, R, SPSS). Other computer skills including programming (Javascript, XML), big data tools (Spark, Hive HQL) are desirable but not essential
  • Personal skills: Detailed oriented with an acute ability to pinpoint missed errors or unseen technical details hindering process efficiency. Ability to solve problems and making prompt decisions. Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working with fast-paced and dynamic teams.

 

Education:
  • Minimum: Bachelor’ s degree in Life Sciences and 1+ year experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
  • 1+ years related professional experience in a clinical research setting, clinical/diagnostic laboratory, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D environment is strongly preferred
