Job Description 
Occupational Health Phlebotomist 
Full Time, Monday-Friday 

SUMMARY: Assist in care of occupational health patients by performing a variety of medical and clerical tasks. 

• Greet patients and answer phones in an occupational medicine clinic 
• Schedule appointments and meetings 
• Assemble and manage medical record files 
• Prepare patient rooms for examinations 
• Take initial medical history and vital signs 
• Perform first aid and wound care as directed by clinical staff 
• Provide in-room medical assistance to clinicians 
• Administer vaccinations 
• Perform phlebotomy services 
• Enter medical documentation in electronic medical record 
• Participate in annual disaster casualty training events 
• Conduct hearing and pulmonary function tests under direction of clinical staff 
• Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and transporting of objects up to 35 pounds; may ask other staff for assistance to lift any heavy item 
• Visual acuity to be able to read medical records and perform vaccination 
• Assist with paperless records project. 

• Excellent communication and written skills 
• Fluency in medical terminology and basic medical history taking 
• Vital sign measurement 
• Basic first aid and wound care 
• Basic immunization and TB skin testing techniques 
• Phlebotomy and blood specimen handling and labeling 
• Pulmonary function testing and audiometric testing procedures 
• Basic knowledge of bloodborne pathogens 
• Basic clinical disinfection procedures 
• Basic computer skills: typing, emailing, and familiarity with electronic medical documentation 
• Minimum one year experience in medical setting performing medical assistant and phlebotomy duties 
• Medical Assistant certificate
