The Mechanical CAD Designer / Drafter transforms complex, conceptual product designs into final models and documents using computer aided design (CAD). Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Collaborates with design originators to refine design concepts and details into final CAD designs. 



a. Develop mechanical parts models, documentation and specifications 
b. Able to understand complex mechanical assemblies, and is able to correctly and accurately communicate these through solid models and other documentation 
c. Create detailed part and assembly drawings in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard and Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices 
d. Responsible for maintaining part documentation library and archive 
e. Experience in construction of complex 3D models 
f. Works with manufacturing and development teams on conceptual designs through final detailed models, drawings and specifications 


Basic Qualifications: 
Associates’ degree in Computer Aided Drafting/Design and 4 years directly related experience 
High school diploma / GED and 7 years of directly related experience 


• 10+ years of directly related experience designing mechanical components and assemblies using 3D solid modeling CAD systems 
• High proficiency in SolidWorks 3D solid modeling of parts, large assemblies and advanced surface design 
• Expertise in use of SolidWorks to generate 2D drawings, interference checks, animations and renderings 
• Expertise in application of SolidWorks Utilities including thickness analysis, geometry compare, document compare, feature compare, geometry analysis, and power select 
• PDM vault management is a plus 
• Y14.5.2 - 2017 Certification of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professionals a plus 
• Experience with injection plastic part design and molding 
• Experience in medical device design and development 
• Experience with measuring tools and methods, i.e., Calipers / Micrometer, Height Gauges etc. 
• Formal SolidWorks training / certification 
• Good Written and Oral communication skills 
• Ability to work well with others or independently 
• MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is a plus
